Lighthouse Team Accomplishments
2020-21
Despite limitations imposed by the pandemic this team was highly motivated and completed several projects that improved our school. Thanks to these committed and dedicated leaders there are several improvements to our our front lobby area. Coached by professional artist and parent of 3 LGES students Mr. Jeremy Entwistle, LHT students Julia, Addy M and Chloe B created a 4'x8' dimensional rendering of a Lake George scene inspired by the work of Georgia O'Keefe which graces a previously blank wall. Additionally, a large freshwater fish tank is adding visual interest to the space in front of the Little Theater, brought about by Mady, Clara and Parker. LHT students Claire, Dylan, Sophia began work on improving the library entrance by adding footprints of Adirondack critters leading into and away from the school. Watch for more exciting improvements to this area! LHT members also created a banner thanking the staff for all they do that is displayed outside the cafeteria.
A new extra-curricular activity was spear headed by team members Malarie and Kara. They approached PE teacher Mrs. Usher about starting a ropes course group after school. When she agreed to support them, they cleaned up the area where the ropes course is located, and created the necessary paperwork to go home to parents. Lastly, the LHT students created a welcome video for new families, or those interested in learning more about LGES from a student perspective. It is posted on the District webpage and can be viewed here.
