LGES celebrated our 2nd annual Leadership Day on June 9, 2017. The theme for the day was "LGES Has Character", and was also our Summer Reading Program kick-off. More than 100 students in grades K-6 participated in planning and leading every facet of the day's activities. Staff and students dressed as their favorite book character to enhance the focus on reading. The day started with an Opening Ceremony led by student emcees Ahva and Sean. Instrumental student music leaders performed the Star Wars theme, followed by the Leadership chorus singing the LGES is Dynamite song which features the 7 Habits. Several students chose a leadership quote and shared what the quote meant to them as leaders. Students also participated in Guess the Habit, an interactive opportunity to show their knowledge of each of the 7 Habits. Many students and staff members were recognized for their contributions to the leadership culture and environment at LGES during the year, followed by a slide show highlighting the many positive changes that took place during 2016 - 17. There were 16 VIP guests who attended the ceremony. To close, Mr. Conway expressed his appreciation to all the students, staff and guests who have supported student leadership at LGES. The select groups of instrumental and choral music leaders performed together "The Bare Necessities" from The Jungle Book.
